One good thing to be aware of is the maximum loan amount for your area, for the major loan programs.
For FHA it depends on what county you live in. You can go to this website, plug in your county, and see what the maximum FHA loan is for your county: https://entp.hud.gov/idapp/
For Conventional loans in Texas the current maximum loan limit is: $548,250.
